Pan's Labyrinth Review - 01234-movies.com

Pan's Labyrinth is an absolutely insane film, it is very graphic and gory and it is definitely a good film with a deep story behind it as well. It was released in late December 2006, so if you haven't seen it, it is definitely a thriller and a shocker and a good one (look at  123 free movies).

The first thing you should know is that the entire film is in Spanish, and the film takes place in Spain in the 1944 during the depression era and the Spanish civil war. Ofelia a young girl is the main character and the daughter of Captain Vidal or "Cappytain". Vidal is one of the craziest characters you will ever meet, one of the most demon possessed and sick minded persons to ever exist in a movie. It is of note that he is not even Ofelia's real father so that just makes the movie even more gruesome. The realistic side versus the fairy tale side prevails, although the fairytale side of the movie is cute. The carnage happening in the real world around them with a war going on and "Cappytain" going absolutely insane is unforgettable and leaves you thinking about the movie for hours after you've watched it.

To go into any true detail other then the setting would be a crime, as this is just mainly a comment and review, and I would definitely give it a high rating. It is definitely something every mature adult should watch as it is rated R for violence of course. It definitely takes it to the edge and mixed in with the drama and a fairytale makes it for a one of a kind movie, alone in its class. This film has been rated the best film of 2006 by several magazines, people are giving this movie great reviews so if you haven't seen it or heard about it now is the time to get up on this. This movie came with the type of originality and great script and more importantly was unpredictable with a good mix of good and evil parts. We all know how movies can be very predictable and redundant but this movie definitely breaks the mold.

Pan's Labyrinth is just out of this world, this writer is probably going to watch it several times again and again. It is definitely a classic in the making and people may look back at this movie twenty or so years from now and say it was one of the great ones. Even though it's not in English, the subtitles are there and personally I thought it was better that the movie was in Spanish as it gave the movie more of a realistic feel.
